AI in the Browser: Zillow Searches & Formula-Free Google Sheets

Woman Chatting AI in the Browser

In this article:

Today we’ll cover two AI in the browser (Agentic AI) power uses.  This is one of the most powerful (easy to use) tools you already have access to:

  1. Making Complex AI-Enabled Searches (eg AI Zillow Searches) with Gemini in the browser and
  2. Formula-Free Spreadsheets

Why is AI in the Browser Different / Helpful?

The crucial thing to note is that, different from using just the chat window:

AI in the browser can see and interact with what you’re seeing on your screen in real time.

Let that sink in.  We’ll refer to Gemini in Chrome, but there are others:  ChatGPT Atlas, Perplexity Comet, Microsoft Edge w/ Copilot and more.  We’ll start with this example:

Power Use #1 – Complex AI-Enabled Search (Eg. Searching Zillow with AI)

This is super, super powerful if you’re trying to search through things online.  For example searching for a house / rental on Zillow (or this could be used if you’re searching for anything on the internet – Eg. Searching a list of products on amazon or home depot, or facebook marketplace products, etc)

And I’ll say what this is not:

  • Zillow has it’s own AI built in, it’s not yet built into the customer searching side (and if it is, it’s not nearly close to what is possible w/ Gemini or ChatGPT), so we won’t cover this.
  • ChatGPT has a Zillow integration – that is not nearly as helpful as what I’ll show you.  It is basically a (very badly designed) window from ChatGPT into Zillow, it actually made searching more difficult than just using Zillow.  So also not this.
  • No separate agent / install needed – You won’t need to install anything, or purchase a separate AI agent, and this won’t ‘run on it’s own’, even though that is also possible, we’ll stick w/ what is available within the browser.

Amazingly I found very little documentation online showing you this is possible so I was blown away when I realized how powerful and easy this is.  Without further ado:

Level 1: How to Search Zillow w/ AI

Get pumped:

  1. Open Chrome (the web browser) OR you could probably do this in Atlas (ChatGPT’s browser), or Perplexity Comet, or Microsoft Edge w/ Copilot (We have not tested those but most likely they will work in a similar way).
  2. Make sure that Gemini is enabled inside of Chrome – To do that, click the “Gemini” button on the top right of Chrome.  It should open a window that overlays chrome, and it should put a blue highlight around the tab that you are currently in.  (Note that the blue highlight is telling you what Gemini is looking at and can see).
  3. In Chrome, Open zillow.com and create the best search you can using the available search parameters – As an example, let’s say we’re searching for beach rentals in St. Pete for the winter.  Try to narrow it down as much as possible:
    1. Draw your map.
    2. Select “For Rent”
    3. Select your max amount you’d like to pay (and min as well, will save you time)
    4. Select # of bedrooms
    5. Select Home Type (eg Condo, Full Home, etc)
    6. Click Search
  4. Now comes the fun! Create your prompt – Feel free to reuse and change any of this, here is an example similar to what I used:

For each of the listings on this page, can you give me a ranked list based on my requirements? Here are my requirements:

– 1+ bed (ideally 2 bedroom but I would take 1 bedroom)
– Great neighborhood, it is walkable, it is safe (low crime rate), it is relatively quiet / peaceful
– Is less than 15 mins drive to beaches, less than 15 mins to seminole, and less than 23 mins to downtown st Pete.
– must have a yard or outdoor deck that is quiet, and private, and gets direct sun (this is required)
– Must have great natural lighting (Please look at the photos for natural lighting, Bonus if has sliding glass doors or doors to a deck off living or dining or kitchen or bedroom areas, or has a deck or a sun room off the main gathering space)
– would be great if it has higher ceilings, but this is not required
– Either driveway or garage, or safe place to park
– Cannot be on or right next to a high traffic road
– Cannot be next to a shopping center, and cannot be next to something that is loud or busy, this is required, ideally in a neighborhood
– Not in Midtown/Child’s Park area (or other moderately high crime rate area)
– Please let me know if it’s in a flood zone, ideally not in a flood zone
– Cannot be on the corner of 2 streets

Now run this search in Gemini, it should give you a prioritized list.  Note that it doesn’t get everything 100% perfect all the time (it did give me some listings on busy-ish streets), however it gets much of it right and gives great, prioritized results.  So you will have some review time but much less than if you checked each listing yourself.

Pro-Tip Google Sheet Prompt

Can you put your results in a google sheet? Please create columns for: your overall score, address, neighborhood, neighborhood rating, walkability score, has backyard/deck, # beds, price, quiet score, crime score, flood zone, zillow link

This alone should blow your hair back.  But let me tell you, it gets even more powerful.

Level 2: Searching Multiple Pages (Hundreds) of Zillow Results at Once w/ AI

Ok let this sink in: You can also do the above w/ multiple pages of results all at once.  So since Zillow caps results at 40 listings per page, you can open multiple pages (tabs) of results and search them all at once:

  • So if you open up page one in one tab
  • Then open page 2 of search results in a second tab
  • Then open up as many as 10 tabs (10 is the current max)
  • Add all the tabs to Gemini: Now in your Gemini window, you’ll see the selected tab within the convo, click the “+” to add the other tabs to the convo.
  • Now add the above prompt (search) to Gemini and you’ll get the results for every open page that Gemini can see and all results it can see
  • Click enter and watch the magic!

Power Use #2 – Formula-Free Google Sheets

Editing Spreadsheets using formulas and wrestling with remembering how to search, organize, sort data in Sheets is no longer needed! You can now work w/ Gemini in the browser on spreadsheets with you, asking simple natural questions like:

Show me how to find all the duplicates in column H

Show me how I could create a new column to show whether each row is a duplicate or not.

How many orders in this sheet are from NY state?

How many customers in this sheet are from the east coast of the US?

Help me generate a hyperlink to salesforce using the Salesforce Order ID field in column G.

This will be an exponential leap in itself.  The possibilities are endless.

What else can you do w/ AI in the browser?

Some other amazing use cases we haven’t yet tried:

  • Using a spreadsheet, and a web form, you can have Gemini fill out that form w/ the data from the spreadsheet for many 30 at once)
